Areas of practice

Business law in general, and in particular company law and maritime law, arbitration.

Lecturer in Maritime Law and the Law on Co-operatives, Deusto University.

Author of different articles, publications and conferences on the law relating to financial institutions, tax law, company groups and business enterprises, the rights of members, transformations, mergers and scissions, commercial contracts and insolvency law.

Member of the Council of the Ilustre Colegio de Abogados de Bizkaia (Bilbao Bar), with responsibility for International Relations.

Member of the International Affairs Committee of the General Council of the Bar in Spain (CGAE). President of its Sub-Committee on the co-ordination of the International activities of Bars. Member of its delegation before the CCBE and member of its Company Law and Committee on Eastern Europe. Former member of its Training Committee.

President of the International Affairs Committee and member of the International Co-operation Committee of the Bilbao Bar and representative before l'Association Internationale des Jeunes Avocats (AIJA) and the Union Internationale des Avocats (UIA).

Member of the Presidency Board and Joint President of the training committee of the Union Internationale des Avocats (UIA). Member of the International Bar Association (IBA) and member of the Spanish Association of Maritime Law (International Maritime Committee Branch), of CIRIEC, and of the International Co-operative Law Association.

Former technical co-ordinator of the Training Committee of the European Bars Federation (FBE), and member of its Eastern European Countries and Arbitration committees.

Arbitrator of CSCE and of the European Network for Dispute Resolution, of the Arbitration Tribunal of the Bilbao Chamber of Comerse and of the Arbitration Tribunal of the Bilbao Bar-Vizcaya Bar.

Member of the editorial committee of the International Association of Cooperative Law  Journal.
